From Vision to Delivery.

Our vision.

We are working across 100 miles of coastline to restore our ocean while supporting thriving coastal communities and sustainable local economies, with a mission to attract £50 million of high integrity investment for marine and coastal community projects by 2050.

Three connected work packages.

Our work brings together the UK’s first Blue Natural Capital Lab, the co-production of a Blueprint for Seascape Recovery, and innovative community engagement, including Gen R, Generation Restoration, and #SussexBay as open platforms for participation and collaboration.

What we want to achieve by 2031.

Over five years, we want to see large scale habitat recovery, healthier ecosystems, more investment in nature recovery, growth in blue economy jobs and innovation, stronger community participation and progress towards net zero coastal infrastructure.

How delivery happens.

We work through a regional partnership and a structured pipeline that helps move good ideas from early concepts towards investment ready projects, supported by clear governance, transparent criteria, monitoring and a mix of public, private and philanthropic investment.

Priority programmes.

Our emerging priorities include seascape recovery, coastal resilience, marine data and digital innovation, a Blue Natural Capital investment pipeline, the Shoreham Port Net Zero Cluster, and an Innovation Accelerator to help turn ideas in the Blueprint for Seascape Recovery into action.

How communities shape the work.

Sussex Bay is community born, and we are committed to ensuring local people, including those not traditionally involved in nature and environmental work, can help shape priorities through workshops, pop-ups, discussion groups, interviews, Community Champions and continuous feedback.

Our next six months.

Over the next six months, we will bring together evidence, partners and communities to co-design priorities, develop investment pathways, test proposals and shape a full Delivery Plan aligned with emerging national policy and opportunities.
