Blueprint for Seascape Recovery

The two-part Blueprint is a milestone: the first, a shared roadmap for nature recovery across Sussex's marine and coastal environment.  Together, we’re now going further and invite you to consider part two.

Restoring nature at scale requires collaboration across sectors, places and disciplines.

Developed through extensive co-creation, the Blueprint brings together the knowledge, expertise and ambitions of more than 40 organisations, researchers, practitioners, regulators and communities. Together, the two parts provide the evidence, opportunities and actions needed to support long-term seascape recovery across Sussex.

It provides:

• Key information about our habitats and species such as oysters, kelp and marine mammals.

• What we need to do: 126 actions at all scales from active restoration to advocacy.

• A shared framework to support decision-making and help organisations align their efforts towards a common goal of coastal and marine environmental recovery.

Part 1: The Story So Far (Published June, 2025)

Combining evidence from natural and social sciences, Part 1 builds a shared understanding of the Sussex marine and coastal environment by exploring its habitats and species, wider benefits, pressures, challenges and opportunities.
